Overall Job Purpose

Contributes to developing and implementing effective and efficient market research programs to support the decision making in assigned products/franchises

Education: MBA (or other post-graduate degree)

Responsibilities

  • Contributor to Extended Product team
  • Manages assigned Market research budget to continually gain greater value
  • Contributes to planning for assigned products/franchises, especially analysis/ forecasting/ performance tracking.
  • Seeks innovative ways to measure impact and effectiveness of marketing activities
  • Provides timely and useful data upon which decisions can be made, and recommends actions based on data.
  • Key contact with research agencies under manager’s supervision
  • Acts as the “antennae’’ of the organization for market changes & events
  • May interact with GHH colleagues under manager’s supervision to ensure global alignment for assigned products/ franchises
  • Undertakes periodic field visits to hear the Voice of the Customer (both internal & external) and includes this perspective in all activities

Market Research Expertise ( through a process of questioning and debate);

MUST Experience

  • Experience in business ( business research, product management, promotion, consumer marketing, customer management, Sales, Sales promotion etc)– could be outside Banyu
  • Effectively working in cross-functional (and perhaps cross-geographical) teams to achieve a result
  • Declared interest in data and analysis

WANT Experience

  • Knowledge of Merck Marketing and/or Pharmaceutical Industry
    Worked outside Japan
  • Experience in Field Sales
  • Knowledge of relevant therapeutic area
  • Entry level Market Research experience in pharma or other industry
  • Tertiary education, MBA (or other post-graduate degree) well regarded
    Major in Marketing, Math/Statistics or business preferred but not required
  • Satisfactory conversational English is mandatory, as well as effective reading/writing of English
